--RHP Brian Wilson (oblique) is on target to come off the disabled list Wednesday, having felt fine after playing catch Tuesday. The bigger question is who'll come off the roster to create a space for Wilson, who might not have been needed in any of the first five games, considering there were no save situations.
--RHP Santiago Casilla could be the guy coming off the roster to make room for RHP Brian Wilson, who's expected to be activated Wednesday. Casilla's sore elbow could prompt a DL stint. Casilla threw well early in spring training but struggled late in camp, and now the elbow ailment could get him extended rest.
--1B Brandon Belt had his third straight hitless games and is 2-for-17. He had an infield single in the opener and homer in the second game. Tuesday, he hit four grounders, all for outs, extending his hitless streak to 12. He's hitting .118, but manager Bruce Bochy said he's not about to rest the rookie. "We're going to be patient with him," Bochy said.
--LHP Madison Bumgarner was pulled after the first batter in the fourth inning and gave up all three runs in the third. Forty-one pitches in the inning did him in. He surrendered five hits and issued three walks. It was Bumgarner's first start since he won Game 4 of the World Series with eight shutout innings.
--RHP Guillermo Mota, who made the roster out of spring training after signing a minor league contract, tossed three scoreless innings in relief. Mota has four scoreless innings on the season. In recent days, it was speculated Mota could be a candidate to be taken off the roster when RHP Brian Wilson is activated, but he seems too valuable to go anywhere.
BY THE NUMBERS
1-12 -- Giants in March and April in L.A. and San Diego since 2009.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"Obviously it's frustrating. I think everybody's more frustrated because we've been in all the games, minus the last one in L.A., and even in that one, we had a shot. That's the positive you can take away from it. We were just one big hit away from tying it up or taking a lead." -- C Buster Posey, on the Giants' 1-4 start.
