Funny. The Giants don't hit when Clayton Kershaw takes the mound.

Already has happened twice this season.

The Giants haven't scored off Kershaw in 23 2/3 innings. First, the season opener. More recently, Monday night when the lefty tossed 6 2/3 shutout innings in the Giants' 6-1 loss to the Dodgers. Kershaw collected seven strikeouts.

The Giants are 1-4 against the Dodgers this year, and that's no way to begin defense of a championship.

With consecutive 6-1 losses (one to the Cards, one to the Dodgers), the Giants are 4-6 on the season.

They played with two men short. Cody Ross (calf) has been on the disabled list all season, and Andres Torres missed his second game after straining his left Achilles tendon.

Manager Bruce Bochy said a decision could be made Tuesday on whether Torres, who's still limping, goes on the DL.

As for Ross, he started jogging and shagging flyballs. Before he rejoins the Giants, he'll likely go on a brief minor league rehab assignment.
