--LHP Barry Zito threw a bullpen session before Wednesday's game, and he is likely to throw another later in the week. Zito has been out of action since spraining his right foot April 16 and making his first career trip to the disabled list.
--1B Aubrey Huff was back in the third spot in the lineup after SS Mike Fontenot had spent the previous seven games there. Huff hit a solo homer in the fifth, giving him six extra-base hits in his past seven games after he collected only six in his previous 28 games.
--LHP Jonathan Sanchez, who had walked 12 batters in his previous 10 innings over two starts, walked just two in six innings Wednesday while earning his third victory of the season. He has allowed just three homers in 43 innings this season, including a solo shot by Arizona C Henry Blanco on Wednesday.
--3B Miguel Tejada, out of the lineup the previous night when Mark DeRosa came off the disabled list and played third base, was back in action Wednesday and played a pivotal part in the Giants' fifth win in as many games. Tejada drove in a run with a single in the fourth inning, and he also doubled and scored in the sixth. He finished with three hits.
--RHP Brian Wilson extended his string of scoreless innings to 10 while earning his 12th save of the season Wednesday. Wilson is 3-0 with seven saves over his past 10 appearances.
BY THE NUMBERS
4 -- Games over .500 for the Giants, the first time this year the defending World Series champions have reached that level. San Francisco won its fifth game in a row Wednesday.
