Rays report: Notes, quotes
--1B Carlos Pena, after missing three weeks with a fractured finger, has a .227 average, 12 homers and 43 RBIs though the Rays first 85 games, but said he could still come close to, or even surpass, last season when he hit 46 homers and had 121 RBIs. "I can still have an outstanding year, a great year," he said.
--LF Carl Crawford stole the 299th base of his career, one shy of becoming the ninth player since 1900 to have 300 before the age of 27.
--SS Reid Brignac got the start in his first game after being called up and, despite going 0-for-3, had a good day with a walk and a run scored, and handling eight chances, turning a double play on his first opportunity.
--CF B.J. Upton extended his career high by stealing his 26th base.
--3B Evan Longoria is on quite a roll. With three more hits Friday, Longoria has a .438 average and 15 RBIs over his last 11 games.
