--RHP Jordan Zimmermann struck out a career-high 11 batters Thursday night, allowing three runs in 6 1/3 innings against the Braves. Two of the runs charged to Zimmermann scored after he left the game in the seventh. Zimmermann, who got eight of his strikeouts swinging, posted his third consecutive quality start.

--LHP Sean Burnett allowed two runs in two-thirds of an inning Thursday, giving up a grand slam to Atlanta LF Martin Prado in the seventh inning of the Nationals' loss to the Braves. Burnett has given up eight runs in his last five innings, effectively being used as a setup man as the Nationals give most of the closer's work to RHP Drew Storen.

--LHP Doug Slaten allowed a run in the 10th inning, taking the loss on a walk-off single by Braves C Brian McCann. Slaten pitched 2 1/3 innings after having never worked more than two innings in his career. He had only pitched two innings in a game four times.

--2B Danny Espinosa hit his first homer in eight games, blasting a two-run shot in the Nationals' 6-5 loss to the Braves on Thursday. Espinosa went 1-for-3 after having posted just two hits in his previous 17 at-bats.

--C Ivan Rodriguez hit his second homer of the year, blasting a solo shot to left field in the sixth inning of the Nationals' loss to the Braves. It was a rare left field blast for Rodriguez, who has been getting most of his hits to the opposite field. He went 1-for-4 Thursday, and he has scored four runs in his last six games.

12 -- Times a Nationals pitcher has struck out 10 or more batters in a game since the team moved to Washington in 2005. RHP Jordan Zimmermann's 11 strikeouts Thursday were the most for a Nationals pitcher since RHP Stephen Strasburg struck out 14 in his major league debut last season.

"Zim threw such a good game. It makes me sick to think I blew a four-run lead, and that's kind of what it's been like the last few." -- LHP Sean Burnett, after the team's 6-5, 10-inning loss to the Braves on Thursday. RHP Jordan Zimmermann had left the game with a career-high 11 strikeouts, and he ended up with a no-decision after Burnett allowed a game-tying grand slam.
