MEDICAL WATCH:

--OF Rick Ankiel (sprained right wrist) was activated from the 15-day disabled list, rejoining the Nationals after spraining his right wrist on May 2. Ankiel went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to May 3 and went on a rehab assignment May 23. He was activated May 24.

--1B Adam LaRoche (torn labrum in left shoulder) was placed on the 15-day disabled list May 23 after playing in 43 of the first 45 games despite the injury. He'll be out at least three weeks.

--RHP Chad Gaudin (right shoulder inflammation) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 26. He will go on a rehab assignment before returning to the Nationals, but as of May 10, it was unclear when he'd be able to pitch in the minors.

--3B Ryan Zimmerman (torn abdominal muscle) went on the 15-day disabled list retroactive to April 10. He underwent surgery May 3 and is expected to be out until at least mid-June.

--RHP Chien-Ming Wang (right shoulder surgery in July 2009) went on the 60-day disabled list March 28. Wang threw two innings in a simulated game in the Nationals' extended spring training in Viera, Fla., on April 21, and trainer Lee Kuntz told reporters Wang experienced no pain in his surgically repaired shoulder. There is no timetable for Wang's return.

--RHP Elvin Ramirez (right shoulder soreness) went on the 60-day disabled list March 28.

--RHP Stephen Strasburg (Tommy John surgery in September 2010) went on the 60-day disabled list March 23. He is throwing long toss from 100 feet but is not expected to return to the majors until September at the earliest. He threw off a mound May 23.
