Guerrero's request for Jays release granted, so now he seeks new job

The Jays agreed to grant Vladimir Guerrero his release, and Guerrero now hopes to find a job with a different team.

When the Jays told Guerrero they didn't have room to promote him, he asked for his release. Vlad, who was hitting .303 at Triple-A Las Vegas after hitting .450 with four homers in 20 at-bats for Class-A Dunedin, has told people he believes he is ready for the majors now. His agent Bean Stringfellow said there are no hard feelings with Toronto.

Guerrero is expecting to begin again talking to other teams now. The Cooperstown-bound player hit .290 with the Orioles last year.

"He has no intention of retiring,'' Stringfellow said.
