Tim Wallach joins Hale, McClendon as Mariners managerial finalists

Dodgers third base coach Tim Wallach became the third known finalist for the Mariners managing job, sources said.

Wallach joins two other coaches from winning organizations -- A's bench coach Chip Hale and Tigers hitting coach Lloyd McClendon -- as second interviewees. Danny Knobler of CBSSports.com reported Monday about McClendon's status as a finalist.

Wallach, the former third-base star, has earned further respect as Don Mattingly's lieutenant in Los Angeles.

Ex-Mariners Dave Valle and Joey Cora are among others to have spoken to the team about the position.

Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik has declined comment on candidates, but Mariners sources suggest they'd like to have a manager hired by the end of the week.
