Mariners, Rangers show interest in Dodgers outfield trio

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Mariners and Rangers are two teams to express interest in one or more of the available Dodgers outfielders.

Los Angeles, with four talented outfielders, has told teams it will listen to offers for Matt Kemp, Andre Ethier or Carl Crawford. It also has Yasiel Puig, the NL Rookie of the Year runner-up.

The interest on the part of Seattle and Texas shouldn't be seen as a surprise. Seattle was the one team known to have strong interest last winter in Ethier, though the Dodgers never really made him available then. The Rangers need to replace free agent Nelson Cruz's offense in some way.

Rival teams have suggested the Dodgers would have to pay down at least a part of the trio's contracts to make a trade, but in this cash-rich market, that isn't a certainty. Kemp has a $160 million, eight-year deal, Crawford $142 million for seven and Ethier $85 million for five.

The Mets have an obvious outfield issue but to this point have shown little interest in the Dodgers triumvirate.

Kemp would seem to be the hardest to trade because his value is less known now. At his best, he's one of the best players in the game, but he's coming off two surgeries. He also is a center fielder, though Ethier was passable as a replacement last year.
