Two-time Cy Young Award winner Johan Santana, who is drawing interest from at least three American League teams, is throwing bullpens on his own and shooting for a June comeback to the big leagues.
The Twins, the team for which he won the two Cy Youngs, and at least two more AL teams are monitoring Santana, who may have a showcase, depending on his progress. He has been said at different points to be ahead of schedule following his second shoulder surgery in April of last year to repair a torn shoulder capsule, but he's ruled out being ready for Opening Day at this point.
Santana hasn't pitching in an MLB game since Aug. 17, 2012, and to come back from a second operation on his pitching shoulder would be overcoming significant odds. But if anyone's worth betting on, it is Santana, who is still only 34 years old.
