The Royals are looking for corner bats as they try to fix their offensive woes and get back into the AL Central race, and Rangers right fielder Alex Rios is one player they've considered.

Kansas City is 14th in the AL with a .687 OPS and 12th with 388 runs, so it understands it needs some help.

Beyond Rios, other corner outfield bats that are available include Marlon Byrd, Domonic Brown, Josh Willingham, Carlos Quentin, Nate Schierholtz (though Cubs teammates Chris Coghlan and Justin Ruggiano are hitting better lately) and perhaps Martin Prado. Jonny Gomes is another name on their list, according to Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com

Rios makes $12 million and has a $14-million option with a $2-imllion buyout. He also has a limited no-trade list of six teams to which he can block trades.
