O's won't deal top kids to rent Lester, may turn to Astros starters

The Orioles, unwilling to surrender their best pitching prospects for rental ace Jon Lester, appear out of the mix on the Lester derby.

Baltimore is looking at the young Astros pitchers, most prominently Dallas Keuchel and Jarred Cosart, as it continues to endeavor to upgrade its rotation. Houston has suggested it will listen on its starters after first seeming uninterested in doing so.

The Orioles wouldn't relinguish top prospects Kevin Gausman, Dylan Bundy, Eduardo Rodriguez and Hunter Harvey to rent a pitcher, even a great one like Lester.

"It's a 56-game rental," one Orioles person pointed out.
