And it wasn't even Kevin Millar who put him to sleep

By Scott Miller | Senior Baseball Columnist
He pitched out of Boston's bullpen for a little over six seasons, and his yeoman's work as a closer helped the Red Sox win their second World Series title of the decade in 2007.

Yet Jonathan Papelbon, who is the Red Sox's all-time saves leader with 219, saw none of the celebration of Fenway Park's 100th birthday on Friday before his Phillies played the Padres on the West Coast.

"No," he said. "I was taking a nap."

And it was no contest, either. Papelbon, who apparently likes the landscape ahead far better than the rear-view mirror, said he never even considered turning on the television.

"I needed a nap way more than I needed to watch the 100th anniversary," he said.
