Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist Demian Maia has fought 30 times in mixed martial arts events. He has gotten one shot at a title. After Saturday night, however, the 38-year-old may be getting a second.

Facing off against another challenger looking for a title shot, Carlos Condit, Maia made it look easy. The Brazilian got Condit's back within 90 seconds of the first round and refused to let go. Thirty seconds later, it was over, Condit taps out.

In the process, Maia tied Donald Cerrone and Matt Hughes for third most victories in UFC history. He now wants that second title shot, this time against Tyron Woodley.

"Right now, I think, is six in a row. This guy's a former champion. This guy has been knocking out everybody. This is the guy who I watched his fight with Robbie Lawler and many people think he won, and I also think (he won), so for me he was the champion. I knew it would be a hard fight," Maia said after the fight via Fox Sports.

As he noted, Maia has now won six consecutive fights in UFC dating back to 2014 with three coming via submission and three by decision. Although it is believed that Woodley will face Stephen Thompson first, Maia said he will wait for his shot at the belt.

It's probably the right decision given that he has now fought three times in eight months. Whenever it happens, Maia will have definitely earned his way back into title contention while fighting in a weightclass than he originally broke on to the scene in.

Meanwhile, Condit has now lost two consecutive fights and doesn't think he belongs at the top of the welterweight division anymore.

"I don't know if I have any business fighting at this level anymore. I don't know if I belong here anymore. We'll see," Condit said via Fox Sports. "I'll probably talk to the people around me, talk to my wife, and probably make the decision after some discussion."

Condit lost to former champion Robbie Lawler via split decision in January.
