Ryan Newman isn't a fan of Talladega Superspeedway racing and suggests NASCAR replace the track's date with an event at a nearby Alabama road course.

Newman told USA Today his idea for dealing with the sometimes violent competition that Talladega produces.

"Go to Barber Motorsports Park (in Birmingham) and have a third road-course race. Seriously," Newman said Thursday at a sponsor event in Charlotte. "To me, that's the best option."

While Newman won't paint every NASCAR fan as wanting to see the kinds of accidents racing at Talladega usually produces, he does recognize there is such a group.

"Not everybody wants to see crashing. But there's a good part of (fans) that want to see that big crash. The Big One," said Newman.
