Michigan moves August Cup qualifying to Friday
Michigan International Speedway is the latest track to return Sprint Cup Series qualifying to Friday.
A day after Atlanta Motor Speedway announced qualifying for its Labor Day weekend Cup race would return to a Friday, MIS followed suit.
Qualifying for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Pure Michigan 400 has been moved to Friday, August 17.
Gatorade Pole Day is set for Aug. 17, a switch from previously published Saturday, Aug. 18. In addition to NASCAR Sprint Cup qualifying at 4:10 p.m., the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and Sprint Cup Series will practice that day.
“Fans can now watch Gatorade Pole Day on Friday. It's a great opportunity for fans to watch teams fine-tune their cars to get every last bit of speed before the big race,” speedway President Roger Curtis said. “In addition, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers will take to the track for the first time since the racing surface was repaved, so we should see a lot of excitement that day at an affordable cost.”
