Seahawks' Bobby Wagner: 'I consider us the favorite' in the NFC West

The San Francisco 49ers might be the defending NFC West and conference champions, but Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner doesn't consider them the division favorite heading into next season.

Wagner was asked on Tuesday who he thought the NFC West favorite was and he didn't mince his words, "I consider us the favorite," Wagner told NFL.com. "I think we can beat any team that's on the field with us as long as we're doing our job and everybody is taking care of what they need to do."

Wagner, the Seahawks' second-round draft pick in 2012, put up first-round numbers. The rookie middle linebacker had a franchise rookie-record 140 tackles and finished tied for second on the team with three interceptions. Wagner thought those numbers would be good enough to win him the NFL's Defensive Rookie of the Year award that went to Carolina's Luke Kuechly.

"I was disappointed," Wagner said. "I felt like I had the stats, I thought the team success we had would have put me over the edge or at least made it a closer margin. But Luke had a great year, so I wasn't surprised when he won."

As Wagner notes, the voting margin wasn't close. Kuechly received 28 of the 50 overall votes for the award, and Wagner was a distant second with 11 votes. Packers cornerback Casey Hayward (six votes), Rams cornerback Janoris Jenkins (three) and Buccaneers linebacker Lavonte David (two) were the only other players to receive votes.

As for naming the Seahawks the early NFC West favorites, Wagner isn't the only one with confidence in the team, the betting public likes Seattle, too. The Seahawks are the most-bet team in Las Vegas to win Super Bowl XLVIII.
