Free agent Chris Canty, one of the league's better run-stuffers, has received an offer from the Titans but will continue to explore his options, The Tennessean's Jim Wyatt reports.

The defensive tackle also visited the Chiefs on a free-agent tour that began when the Giants cut the 30-year-old last week.

Canty (6-7, 317) started all 20 games in New York's 2011 run to the Super Bowl title but missed seven games last season due to knee issues. He still graded out as Pro Football Focus' 19th-best defensive tackle in 2012.

The Titans are desperate for defensive help. They finished 24th against the run (127.2), 27th in total yards (374.5) and last in points allowed (29.4).

Tennessee also was scheduled to host safety George Wilson on Wednesday. He was released by the Bills on Monday.

A fourth-round pick of the Cowboys in 2005, Canty spent four seasons in Dallas before signing a six-year, $42-million deal with the Giants that included $17.25 million guaranteed. Canty set career highs in 2011 with 47 tackles and four sacks.
