If you've ever wanted an NFL player to make you a sub sandwich and you live in Waco, Texas, you're in luck. That's because St. Louis Rams running back Terrance Ganaway has taken an offseason job at a Waco-area Jimmy John's.

Ganaway started the job in early February and has been doing a little bit of everything.

"I'm on the line that makes the sandwiches. I bake bread, take the cashier spot," Ganaway told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "I had to sweep the other day. Clean the tables. I mean all types of stuff. Slice the meat. Wrap the meat."

So how did Ganaway end up working at Jimmy John's? "I just jokingly tweeted that I needed a job in Waco. Was anyone hiring?" Ganaway said.

Ganaway's tweet [above] turned into a conversation with a Jimmy John's employee and that conversation turned into a job at Jimmy John's. The entire process -- from Ganaway's first tweet to his first day on the job -- took only three weeks. Ganaway started working for the sandwich shop on Feb. 4.

That explains how Ganaway got the job, but it doesn't quite explain why he took it.

"I just wanted to stay fit, stay out of trouble and really just try to save money and not spend a lot of money," Ganaway said.

Making subs, especially at a place that prides itself on being freaky fast, isn't exactly easy.

"I'm in the heat of the battle. Trying to make sandwiches fast is Jimmy John's policy, so it's kind of stressful," Ganaway said.

As a rookie last season, Ganaway earned the NFL minimum of $390,000. He's not sure what he's making now, but it's not six figures.

"I'm probably guessing minimum wage -- $7.25 to $7.50 [an hour]," Ganaway said.

Ganaway only played in three games with the Rams in 2012, but his role could increase in 2013. If Steven Jackson doesn't return to St. Louis, it should open up playing time for the former Baylor Bear.

In 2011, Ganaway was a teammate of Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III at Baylor. The two might be friendly rivals now because Griffin probably doesn't eat Jimmy John's, as he has a deal with Subway.
