North America will not host a Formula 1 race in 2009 after FIA dropped the Canadian Grand Prix from its 2009 calendar.
The United States Grand Prix was dropped from the F1 schedule following the 2007 season
On October 15, 2008, it was announced that French Grand Prix, which had been scheduled for June 28, had been cancelled because the French Motorsport Federation withdrew its backing, calling the Formula 1 race too expensive.
On Nov. 5, 2008, the Wold Motor Sport Council made even more revisions. The Chinese Grand Prix was moved up from Oct. 18 to April 19, the Bahrain Grand Prix was shifted back to April 26, the Brazilian Grand Prix took China's date of Oct. 18 and the season finale at Abu Dhabi was moved forward to Nov. 1 from Nov. 15.
