JEREZ, Spain -- Toro Rosso driver Sebastian Vettel was fastest at Wednesday's Formula One testing for the second straight day.
Vettel timed a fastest lap of 1 minute, 18.843 seconds around the Jerez circuit on tires that will be used in 2009, when F1 rules change.
McLaren test driver Pedro de la Rosa was second in 1:19.081, ahead of Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen.
Raikkonen was behind the wheel in place of test driver Luca Badoer as the Italian team continued working on car setups for upcoming races, following a disappointing German Grand Prix last Sunday.
Raikkonen, the defending world champion who finished sixth at Hockenheim, had a best time of 1:19.444.
Also, the BMW Sauber mechanic who suffered injuries from an electric shock on Tuesday returned to Switzerland after spending the night in a hospital to undergo further medical tests, the German team said in a statement.
Testing at the Andalucian circuit finishes on Thursday.
