J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert complete double alley-oop dunk for Knicks

By Ben Golliver | Blogger

The New York Knicks got a little goofy during the closing minutes of their 101-79 blowout win over the Detroit Pistons at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.

The clear highlight was the rare double alley-oop connection, a play perfected by Miami Heat All-Stars LeBron James and Dwyane Wade.

Knicks guards J.R. Smith and Iman Shumpert flawlessly executed their own rendition with just under three minutes to play.

Smith raced out in transition after a Charlie Villanueva turnover, throwing a lob pass to Shumpert from well outside the 3-point line. Shumpert caught the pass as he drifted towards the baseline on the right side of the hoop, unable to complete the dunk himself. Instead, he softly lobbed the ball to the front of the rim, where Smith was now waiting to finish a right-handed dunk on his descent, sending the Knicks bench and the crowd into hysterics.
