Kevin Love spent the night in the hospital after a concussion

By Royce Young | NBA writer

It was only precautionary, but Kevin Love spent Wednesday night in the hospital after sustaining a mild concussion and neck strain in the first quarter against the Nuggets.

Love has to go through the league's mandated concussion policy tests in order to play again. The Wolves next game is Thursday night, which he would appear unlikely for.

The injury happened on a bit of a freak play. JaVale McGee caught the ball in the paint and was simply making a move to the basket and caught Love with an elbow to the head. Completely incidental, but Love was immediately shaken up and had to leave the game.

You have to wonder if the Wolves are looking at maybe just shutting down their star after the little injury scare. There are only a handful of games left and there's no big reason to rush Love back to the floor. The Wolves have had some bad luck this season. They've lost Ricky Rubio already, dealt with injuries to Michael Beasley, Nikola Pekovic, Luke Ridnour and J.J. Barea. No reason to take a risk with Love.
