Knicks C Tyson Chandler dunks on Heat F Mike Miller, gets technical foul for taunting
Can you get a technical foul for making someone look bad while dunking on them?
That's what it looked like early in the second quarter of Game 2 of an Eastern Conference first round playoff series between the New York Knicks and Miami Heat.
Knicks center Tyson Chandler threw down a putback dunk over Heat forward Mike Miller, climbing over his back to through down the stuff to cut Miami's lead to 28-26. Chandler looked in Miller's direction afterwards, as the dunk had sent Miller flying all the way into the row of baseline cameraman. He posed for a bit and was quickly hit with a technical foul for taunting. Seemed quick and unnecessary, especially considering how common preening is these days.
Chandler finished the game with 13 points and 7 rebounds on 6-for-8 shooting in 33 minutes.
His technical foul was just one of many tough breaks for the Knicks on this night. Miami went on to win 104-94 and Knicks star forward Amar'e Stoudemire lost his cool afterwards, lacerating his hand while punching a locker room fire extinguisher.
The Heat now leads the series 2-0, with play moving to Madison Square Garden for Game 3 on Thursday.
