Tim Duncan becomes all-time playoff blocks leader

By Matt Moore | NBA writer
Tim Duncan became the NBA's all-time playoff blocks leader with four blocks in the first half of Game 3, making his total 477, one more than the former leader, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

An important note:

The total also does not reflect those of Bill Russell or Wilt Chamberlain, who played before the statistic was recorded.

What's amazing is that Duncan may honestly be the best defender of any of those players, when you consider the eras that they played in comparatively, and the advancement in competition and conditioning. He's certainly up there with Russell for the decision. If nothing else, the fact that Ducnan's blocks came not on exceptional leaping ability swatting the ball into the fourth row, but solid positional defense, simply rejecting the opponent and often taking the possession.

Ducnan did accomplish reaching the top spot in nine fewer games.

It's just another piece of Duncan's championship tapestry.
