Russell Westbrook signs with Jordan Brand

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Some have always seen a natural comparison between Dwyane Wade and Russell Westbrook. And it seems Westbrook has no problem following in Wade's footsteps. (Footsteps, get it? You get it.)

After Wade left Jordan Brand for Chinese company Li-Ning, Westbrook has been signed as his apparent replacement. Westbrook, who was a sneaker-free agent this summer, has been with Nike through his first four seasons.

"We're excited about Westbrook's love for the game, his personality and style (both on and off the court), and his determination to win," said Jordan Brand chairman Michael Jordan. "The term This Is Flight takes on a whole different meaning with Westbrook in the mix. Not many guards fly through the sky and finish with thunderous dunks like he does, let alone his speed and acceleration in the open court."

Westbrook joins other NBA stars Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul as the primary faces of Jordan Brand.
