Video: The Brooklyn Nets' new mascot is terrifying

By Royce Young | NBA writer

The Brooklyn Nets are clearly trying to be edgy. From cheerleader uniforms to logos to their fancy arena, they want to do things differently.

So instead of going with your normal kid-friendly, fuzzy and warm mascot, they went with Gregor Clegane from Game of Thrones, or something.

Minority owner Jay-Z has had a hand in a lot of what the Nets have done in their move to Brooklyn and if this is his doing, well, um, yeah. Why a knight? Are they planning on changing their name at some point? How does this at all relate to the franchise? If it were something silly and clever like the Phoenix gorilla it'd be fine, but a sword-wielding knight?

Some come on, kid -- who wants a picture with the "BrooklyKnight," as they're calling him? Anyone? He won't chop your head off, promise!
