Report: Wolves' Chase Budinger out three months with meniscus tear

By Royce Young | NBA writer

If this keeps up, Adrian Peterson might be getting a 10-day contract from the Timberwolves.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Chase Budinger will miss three months after having surgery on a torn mensicus. The team already announced the injury but didn't provide a timetable.

Budinger, 24, injured the knee while battling for a loose ball Saturday against the Pacers.

He joins a long list of injured Wolves that includes Kevin Love (broken hand), Ricky Rubio (torn ACL), J.J. Barea (sprained foot), Brandon Roy (sore knee) and Nikola Pekovic (sprained ankle).

Without Budinger, the Wolves will turn to Roy for more minutes, assuming he's ready for them. If not, then expect Alexey Shved to get minutes at shooting guard with reserve Malcolm Lee likely seeing time as well.

There's also the option the Wolves could sign free agent Mickael Pietrus.

Budinger is averaging 11.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in six games for the Wolves this season. He's set to be a free agent next summer.
