Video: Kevin Love gets called for a block on a DeMarcus Cousins offensive foul

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

To me, this DeMarcus Cousins drive in the third quarter of Tuesday night's game between the Kings and Timberwolves looks like a charge. Kevin Love is set, he's squared up to Cousins, and he takes the contact. It's seems like a pretty easy to call to make.

However, you could convince me that Love wasn't quite there, shuffled his feet a bit and turned into the contact. This would show he wasn't as controlled on defense as you might need to be to get a charge called against an offensive player. I still think it's a charge but if it was called a block, I could probably accept that.

Somehow, the refs couldn't decide so they ended up calling a double foul. That's right; Cousins was called for the charge and Love was called for the blocking foul on the exact same play. There wasn't a separate foul away from the ball. There was just one bit of contact and two fouls that came from it.

I've watched an unhealthy amount of basketball in my life and have never seen a double foul on a charge-block call.
