Video: J.R. Smith goofs up Knicks' final possession, then saves the day

Oh, J.R. Smith. Never change. Shine on, you crazy diamond.

The inexplicable shooting guard made a great defensive play (GOOD PLAY, J.R.!) to break up a potential game-winning possession for the Bobcats Wednesday night, deflecting a pass to teammate Raymond Felton.

Smith and Felton had a 2-on-1 fastbreak for a game-winning layup, and Felton passed to Smith after his defender committed. Smith then dribbled to the perimeter ... for no apparent reason ... and then took three to four seconds off the clock ... before starting to go for what would have been a contested fadeaway 3, had Jason Kidd not literally tackled the official trying to call timeout. (BAD PLAY, J.R.!)

So naturally, on the ensuing possession, for the win, J.R. Smith took a step-back, contested-all-to-Hades fadeaway jumper.

And nailed it. (GOOD.... PLAY... J....R...?)
