Wolves' Adelman to miss second game in a row for personal reasons

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

After missing Monday's practice and Tuesday's win over the Atlanta Hawks, Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman will miss his second game in a row Wednesday in Oklahoma City. The team announced this afternoon:

The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that head coach Rick Adelman will miss tonight's game at Oklahoma City for personal reasons. Adelman also missed last night's game vs. Atlanta. Wolves assistant coach Terry Porter will serve as the acting head coach for the game against the Thunder.

This will be Terry Porter's second consecutive game acting as head coach and his third since joining Adelman's staff before last season. There is no timetable for Adelman's return. Many thought even though he didn't catch the Wolves' plane to Oklahoma City on Tuesday night, he could join them Wednesday. However, the personal reasons he's missing the games are continuing.

After Tuesday night's 108-103 win over the Hawks, Porter was asked if it would be hard to face Adelman had the game slipped away from the Wolves, who led by as many as 17 points before pulling out the narrow victory.

"No," Porter said with a smile. "I've lost games for Rick before."

Porter played in 514 career games (including playoffs) under Adelman when both of them were a part of the Portland Trail Blazers organization.
