Video: Celtics' Jeff Green with two monster dunks on an important day

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

One year ago today, Jeff Green was recovering in the hospital after undergoing heart surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm. And while he's struggled to play with the consistency of justifying the four-year, $36 million contract from the Boston Celtics following that surgery, Green is still capable of throwing down a big dunk or two.

The first dunk was just mean. The drove into the lane from the left side, right by a flat-footed Michael Beasley before rising up and destroying Jermaine O'Neal at the rim. The second one was an alley-oop on a fast break that made him look like he was going to hit his head on the rim. It's easy to criticize the play of Green, who hasn't exactly lived up to his draft position or his current contract.

However, when you remember that a year ago today people were wondering if he'd ever play basketball again, it's pretty cool to see him find somewhat of a niche with the Celtics and work his way back to hopefully silence the critics (myself included) who have questioned his career so far.

The Celtics went on to beat the Suns 87-79 to climb over the .500 mark at 18-17.
