Spurs' Tony Parker leaves game with ankle injury

By Royce Young | NBA writer

For about 15 minutes while they waited for word on Tony Parker's status, the Spurs saw their season flash before their eyes.

Parker left San Antonio's game Friday against the Kings in the third quarter and headed straight for the locker room, but was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. He did not return.

Via the San Antonio Express-News, Gregg Popovich wasn't optimistic.

"It's a good one," he said. "He'll be out a while."

Parker could miss a few games, but the injury initially appeared to be potentially catastrophic. Parker came down awkwardly and appeared to be grabbing more at his leg and not ankle. He wasn't able to put weight on it as he was helped off the floor.

Parker, 30, is averaging 21.1 points and 7.6 assists in 55 games this season.
