Nightly Grades 3.6.13: A wicked 14
![]() |
| Boston's late game execution | No heroball. No pull-up jumper. No contested shot. Just great execution of a play with multiple moving parts which created absolute havoc vs. a very good Indianadefense. Excellent stuff. | |
| San Antonio Spurs | No Tony Parker; no problem. Such a Spurs-like performance, just out-executing Chicago as the game wore on with solid defense and fundamental offense. The Spurs do what the Spurs do. Clockwork. | |
| Indiana Pacers | Should have been able to put Bostonaway, but let them hang around and their offense left them gasping again. Sure could have used J.J. Redick late to hit a three and put the Celtics away. Oh, and by the way.
| |
| Miami Heat and Orlando Magic | It wasn't a great win, but it was good enough for Miami. The Heat survived an onslaught from Nikola Vucevic, and despite not scoring for the final six minutes before LeBron's game-winning layup, they did draw fouls to keep themselves in it and let the best player in basketball do his thing. For the Magic, a terrific effort vs. a superior team. This team is where it should have been the whole year, full of promising young players learning how to play. Great stuff from Vucevic, the steal of the Dwight Howard trade, and Tobias Harris, the steal of the J.J. Redick trade. | |
| Los Angeles Lakers | It was a back to back on the road, and the Lakerscould have very easily just packed it in. But they chose to fight back from 20-plus down for a huge comeback win that pulls them within 1.5 games of the eight. Kobe Bryantwas his usual spectacular self and just kept coming at 'em. And Dwight Howardfinally had a great effort play when the team needed it. Here come the Lakers. | |
| Utah Jazz | Melted down under the burning glare of Kyrie Irving's brilliance, surrendering an eight-point lead late to Cleveland. Their playoff security has evaporated, and they're in pure meltdown mode. |
