Diamondbacks' Paul Goldschmidt not ready to discuss long-term deal
Diamondbacks general manager Kevin Towers said Saturday the team has approached Paul Goldschmidt about a long-term deal, but the first baseman said he wanted to wait.
Goldschmidt, 25, isn't eligible for arbitration until after the 2014 season and is under team control through 2017.
The right-handed hitter was productive in his first full major-league season in 2012, hitting .286/.359/.490 with 20 home runs and 18 stolen bases in 587 plate appearances.
The Diamondbacks finalized a three-year extension with second baseman Aaron Hill on Friday and a four-year deal with third baseman Martin Prado at the end of January.
