2011 NBA Mock Draft: Matt Moore

NBA Mock Draft - 06/22/2011
Round 1
1. Cleveland Cavaliers (from Los Angeles Clippers)
Kyrie Irving, PG, Duke: Best overall pick. This has been obvious for the start. Not even the Cavs can screw this up.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves
Derrick Williams, PF, Arizona: If you have anything you'd like to trade for this pick, leave it in the comments and David Kahn will be in touch. And we mean anything. Fishing tackle, lint, melted ice cream, anything.
3. Utah Jazz (from New Jersey)
Brandon Knight, PG, Kentucky: The Jazz take Knight, build around him, trade Harris for more assets. Knight has a slight advantage over Enes Kanter in that he has played against actual people in the last calendar year.
4. Cleveland Cavaliers
Enes Kanter, PF, Kentucky: Kanter's length and size override the fact that he hasn't played against actual people and the Cavs take him to pair with Irving as their rebuilding core.
5. Toronto Raptors
Jan Vesely, PF, KK Partizan Belgrade,: This is allegedly the Raps' big favorite, despite him being a Euro (warning sign for Colangelo), redundant at his position on the team (warning sign for DeMarr DeRozan), and is still a raw player at 21 (warning sign for Dwane Casey).
6. Washington Wizards
Kawhi Leonard, SF, San Diego State: An all-around prospect with polish, Leonard could wind up being the James Harden to the Wizards' Thunder model. He's a strong, complete player without exceptional ability who does a lot every time he touches the floor and plays great defense.
7. Sacramento Kings
Alec Burks, SG, Colorado: Can Burks play point guard? He'd better figure out how in a hurry.
8. Detroit Pistons
Marcus Morris, PF, Kansas: Morris' workout with the Pistons Tuesday convinces Detroit to pair him with Monroe for a solid frontcourt pair.
9. Charlotte Bobcats
Chris Singleton, SF, Florida State: All your rebounds belong to Singleton and Thomas.
10. Milwaukee Bucks
Klay Thompson, SG, Washington State: Burks not being here would be crushing for Milwaukee, and in their grief they turn to Klay Thompson.
11. Golden State Warriors
Bismack Biyombo, PF, Baloncesto Fuenlabrada: Mark Jackson wants defense, and that's all Biyombo has.
12. Utah Jazz
Jonas Valanciunas, PF, Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius,: With Valanciunas still here, the Jazz can't resist. They'll wait a year while his buyout is finalized, and it gives them time to work out their crowding in the front court.
13. Phoenix Suns
Kemba Walker, PG, Connecticut: An excuse to trade Steve Nash.
14. Houston Rockets
Jordan Hamilton, SF, Texas: If only there was a seven-foot Chinese guy available here.
15. Indiana Pacers
Josh Selby, PG, Kansas: Hey, you can't swing and miss on every Kansas shooting guard, right? Selby's a reach here, but his impressive workouts at Impact in Las Vegas could push him this high.
16. Philadelphia 76ers
Donatas Montiejunas, PF, Benetton Treviso,: They need a center, even if he's a lousy rebounder. Gives them stretch offense more than Hawes.
17. New York Knicks
Jimmer Fredette, SG, Brigham Young: A gunner point guard for a gunning system. Fredette could thrive here.
18. Washington Wizards (from Atlanta)
Markieff Morris, PF, Kansas: Morris gives depth and basketball intelligence to a team that has neither.
19. Charlotte Bobcats (from New Orleans through Portland)
Tobias Harris, SF, Tennessee: Goodbye, Stephen Jackson.
20. Minnesota Timberwolves (from Memphis through Utah)
Tristan Thompson, SF, Texas: He can hang out with Martell Webster and not play.
21. Portland Trail Blazers
Marshon Brooks, SF, Providence: The Blazers have made a committment to improving the back court. Brooks is a good start there.
22. Denver Nuggets
Nikola Vucevic, PF, USC: The Nuggets are going to need size whether Nene re-signs or not. Even if Vucevic doesn't make his away over, it's a smart pick for the Nuggets who have logjams at the top three positions.
23. Houston Rockets (from Orlando through Phoenix)
Davis Bertans, SF, Union Olimpija Ljubjana,: Bertans' pulled out of workouts and his stock is plummeting. But the Rockets take him because they're focused on the future.
24. Oklahoma City Thunder
Charles Jenkins, SG, Hofstra: Jenkins may spend time in Tulsa because of the talent in OKC right now, but he could also be their insurance policy on Thabo Sefolosha if the bottom falls out.
25. Boston Celtics
Kenneth Faried, PF, Morehead State: What happens when Glen Davis leaves in free agency? Faried comes in and does the dirty work.
26. Dallas Mavericks
Justin Harper, PF, Richmond: 6-10 power forward with range. The Mavericks are going to be set at center and are obviously good to go at every other position. So really it comes down to a long-term backup plan for Dirk. Harper would be a good fit and Carlisle could get much out of him.
27. New Jersey Nets (from L.A. Lakers)
Tyler Honeycutt, SF, UCLA: If Stephen Graham is your backup small forward, you can use another one.
28. Chicago Bulls (from Miami through Toronto)
Iman Shumpert, SG, Georgia Tech: A late rising prospect that could go as high as in the teens, Shumpert is the best available player left on the board. C.J. Watson played well. Not that well.
29. San Antonio Spurs
Jeremy Tyler, C, Tokyo Apache,: And starting at center for your Austin Toros ...
30. Chicago Bulls
Nikola Mirotic, SF, Real Madrid,: This is called "creating an empty roster spot via Euro abroad to save money because you gave Carlos Boozer $75 million a year ago."
