Sources: NBA superstar Kevin Durant has signed with prominent NBA player agent Rob Pelinka. #NBA— Liz Mullen (@SBJLizMullen) March 19, 2012
Durant left his long-time agent Aaron Goodwin earlier this month and now has signed with a big-name agent in Pelinka, whose firm manages Kobe Bryant, Carlos Boozer, Andre Iguodala and more.
The move is mostly notable due to the fact that Durant has been so successful at building a brand under Goodwin (he's just recently become a fixture on commercials and has a terrible-looking movie coming out), and has talked extensively about just wanting to play basketball. Durant departing one agency for another, for whatever the reason, suggests at least someone on his management team has different goals than his previous team. It's a move to a big-power broker, and while Durant's locked up for the immediate future in OKC, any advancement towards strength at the representative level does register on the radar.
Oh, and in unrelated news, the last superstar player to leave Goodwin Sports was... Dwight Howard, who joined Dan Fegan.
