Antoine Walker had to sell his championship ring?

By Royce Young | NBA writer
The saga of Antoine Walker has been a pretty sad one. He had some serious financial issues, tried to make numerous comebacks to aid those issues and couldn't ever make it. (Ken Berger of wrote a fantastic feature on Walker's problems.)

But it sounds like Walker's hit rock bottom. As TMZ reports, Walker sold his championship ring for $21,500. But the worst part is, he was forced to sell it:
Walker -- who won the ring as a member of the 2006 Miami Heat -- filed for bankruptcy back in 2010 ... claiming he racked up more than $12.7 million in debts ... but had only $4 mill in assets.

According to court docs, Walker had to liquidate his property to pay back his creditors ... including his ring. Now TMZ has learned, the ring has been tentatively sold to a guy named Andres Garcia for a cool $21,500. A judge needs to sign off on the deal before any money changes hands ... but we're told it's pretty much a done deal.
Walker wasn't a primary contributor to that Miami title team, but having to part with something like a championship ring is brutal. Because it's a career achievement, something to look back on and think of how hard work paid off. He might not have played big minutes, but he was definitely part of the team and earned that ring.

Walker is trying to make a comeback through the D-League and it's not going so well. At 35 and about 40 pounds over his old playing weight, he's probably not going to make it. And that $25,000 D-League salary isn't helping to pay his bills either.

Not every player is attached to their ring though. Metta World Peace sold his for charity recently. It's a little different though when you're forced to do it by a judge.
