The New York Post reports that Jordan Farmar will likely miss the rest of the season with a groin injury.

After meeting with specialists, Farmar said he's expecting to sit out for at least the next two-to-three weeks. With only a month remaining in the season, that leaves his chances of playing again for the Nets this season in serious jeopardy.

“I'm not sure how it's gonna work out,” Farmar said. “When I'm 100 percent, I'll play. If it's this season, then I'll be out there. If not, it'd be unfortunate, but I'd have to look forward.”

Farmar actually had arguably the best season of his career this year for the lowly Nets, averaging 17.6 points per 36 minutes and shooting a ridiculous 44 percent from three-point range. He was a great change-of-pace guard behind Deron Williams and was a legitimate Sixth Man of the Year candidate.

It's a shame, but then, the Nets need to shut down as many good players as they can to try and make sure they don't lose their draft pick which is top-three protected. So that means the rest of their team can play, essentially.
