LeBron James, Bosh out vs. Wizards; Dwyane Wade injured, does not return

By Matt Moore | NBA writer
Post-game Update: LeBron James dressed to play when Dwyane Wade left the game with a dislocated finger, came to the bench, but did not play. The Heat lost to the Wizards on a last-second bucket by Nene. The Bulls' magic number drops to two, and Chicago currently leads the Mavericks in the fourth quarter.

LeBron James was still on the active roster, and with Wade out, is getting taped to play.

Bold. I guess they do want that No.1 seed.

Dwyane Wade left the game in the first quarter with a dislocated finger, and will not return, according to the Bulls' twitter account. But that certainly changes the compexion for the Heat's chances, obviously.

The Miami Heat have elected to sit LeBron James and Chris Bosh Saturday night vs. the Washington Wizards, despite being just a game and a half back of the Chicago Bulls for the top seed in the East.

The Heat can win the No.1 seed with a Chicago loss to Indiana provided they win out by tying the Bulls and having the conference record tiebreaker. But apparently that wasn't motivation to play two of the Triad vs. the lowly Wizards.

There are two interpretations here. Either the Heat are not going to put closing that game and half gap over the overall rest of their stars, or they think they can beat Washington with Dwyane Wade and the backup band.

Bosh has missed several games with injury/rest while James has primarily played through the end of this month. It's an interesting set of tactical questions and trying to establish the Heat's motivations is kind of interesting.
