Things got real during Game 2 between the Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
Halfway through the first quarter, with Dallas leading 17-16, Mavericks forward Dirk Nowitzki and Thunder center Kendrick Perkins got into a scrap that saw Nowitzki shove Perkins and Perkins appear to swing in Nowitzki's directions. Cooler heads prevailed after referees intervened to issue double technicals, but the intensity in the ruckus was present throughout the rest of the night.
Oklahoma City eventually pulled out the 102-99 win, with the two teams combining to shoot an astonishing 71 free throws. Nowitzki, who finished with 31 points and 6 rebounds, shot 11-for-11 from the line on the night.
After the game, Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle had some harsh words about the physical nature of the play.
"The dirty bulls---- has got to stop," he said, in a comment that aired on national television.
