You want The Truth? You can't handle The Truth, LeBron.
With pivotal Game 5 in the balance, Paul Pierce isolated on LeBron James, lined him up and knocked it down. Pierce drilled a 3 right over the top of LeBron's excellent contest with 53 seconds left to put the Celtics up four and essentially give Boston a 3-2 series lead headed back home.
"I just took the shot," Pierce said. "That's just being in those moments so many times and understanding what your team needs. Being able to concentrate and get the best shot for us. I thought that was the best shot once I saw him back up and I was able to knock it down."
Pierce had struggled shoot the ball prior to the 3, hitting only 5-of-18 from the floor before he launched. Didn't matter though. Talk about Hero Ball all you want but the truth is (pun sort of intended), big time players make big time shots in big time moments.
Said Kevin Garnett of the shot after the game: "I'm looking at him saying, 'Oh god, The Truth.' When he shoots certain shots I know it's going in and when he's got a certain confidence going, it's The Truth. When Shaq gave him that nickname, it was right on."
