Hornets G Xavier Henry undergoes arthroscopic knee surgery

By Ben Golliver | Blogger

Tough day for the health of Hornets guards.

Just hours after the New Orleans Hornets announced that 2012 lottery pick Austin Rivers underwent ankle surgery to clear up bone spurs, the team announced that guard Xavier Henry underwent arthroscopic knee sugery.

Henry's procedure dealt with a lateral meniscus tear in his right knee. He's expected to be ready for training camp in the fall.

The surgery comes less than a week after Henry played for the Hornets in the Las Vegas Summer League, where he posted averages of 12.2 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 28.8 minutes per game.

Henry, 21, was a 2010 lottery pick by the Memphis Grizzlies out of Kansas and has yet to deliver on the hype that surrounded him as one of the country's top high school prospects. He was traded to the Hornets prior to the 2011-12 season and averaged 5.3 points and 2.4 rebounds in 16.9 minutes per game during 45 appearances last year.
