Reports: Milwaukee Bucks agree to sign free-agent center Joel Przybilla

By Ben Golliver | Blogger

An NBA lifecycle has completed itself.

The Milwaukee Bucks have agreed to sign unrestricted-free-agent center Joel Przybilla to a 1-year veteran's minimum contract 12 years after acquiring him in a 2000 NBA Draft day trade with the Houston Rockets, according to both JournalTimes.com and The Oregonian. Przybilla, who spent his first 3-plus seasons in Milwaukee, also reportedly considered the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks before signing with the Bucks.

Przybilla, 32, is a defense and rebounding specialist on his last legs. He missed much of the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons due to multiple knee surgeries. After rehabilitating, he was traded by the Blazers to the Charlotte Bobcats as part of a package for forward Gerald Wallace. After sitting out the opening portion of the 2011-12 season, he re-signed with the Blazers as a free agent back in February.

Known as a good locker room guy and a hard worker, Przybilla plugs in to a new-look Bucks frontline that includes Samuel Dalembert, acquired in a summer trade from the Rockets, and Ekpe Udoh, brought over from the Golden State Warriors at the 2012 deadline in a trade that sent out oft-injured center Andrew Bogut in exchange for guard Monta Ellis.
