Peter Holt elected chairman of the NBA Board of Governors

By Royce Young | NBA writer

The NBA announced Thursday that Spurs owner Peter Holt will serve as the NBA's new chairman of its Board of Governors.

Holt will replace Timberwolves owner Glen Taylor, who has been in the role since 2008. Holt has been a member of the board for 16 years and currently serves in five committees, including the Labor Relations Committee.

“Glen Taylor's wisdom and counsel over the past four years have been invaluable,” NBA Commissioner David Stern said. “Peter Holt's extensive board experience and committee leadership make him an ideal choice to succeed Glen. I thank Glen for his dedicated service and commend the Board of Governors on its laudable selection of Peter as chairman.”

Holt is entering his 17th season as Spurs owner, where he obviously has overseen an extremely successful organization. The Spurs have won four championships under Holt, built a new arena and won 50 games in 14 consecutive seasons.
