Celtics' Kevin Garnett doesn't record a rebound but does record a fun rant

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

What were you doing on Jan. 21, 1997?

President Bill Clinton had just given his second inaugural speech the day before. And Kevin Garnett was busy not grabbing a rebound for the third time in his career. Since that day, KG had grabbed at least one rebound in every game he has played in. That streak ended Saturday night in the Boston Celtics 92-79 victory against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Garnett played 23 minutes against the Sixers, scored 19 points on 9-of-11 shooting, and failed to grab a rebound. When asked about it after the game, he gave a pretty great "rant" on the entire subject. Warning there is some language that wouldn't be suitable for young ears (via Chris Forsberg):

It's moments like these why I love Garnett.

"Better dust off that."

KG swears he had a rebound in the first quarter or first half. And I think I found where he may have misremembered a rebound of his. In the second quarter, KG and Brandon Bass went up for the same rebound, wrestled for it a bit, and Bass walked away with the board.

So there you go, KG. Don't blame the statistician. It's time to go after Bass for robbing you of your streak.
