Good news, Pelicans and Hornets fans!

2012 No. 1 draft pick Anthony Davis will return to action for the New Orleans Hornets against the Washington Wizards on Tuesday night. After missing 11 straight games with a sprained ankle, Davis will be back in action coming off the bench for Monty Williams and the future Pelicans.

The Brow's absence from the Hornets came after he sprained his ankle three times in three days last month. There were worries of a severe stress reaction because of the injury, causing him to miss nearly a month of action.

When Davis has been on the court, he's been pretty spectacular. He's averaging 16 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.2 blocks per game. He's made nearly half of his shots (49.3 percent) and is making 83.9 percent of his free throws. In his six games, nearly every basic and advanced statistical measurement shows him to be an elite player. Granted, it's an extremely small sample size, but he'll get a chance to continue to grow that sample size and re-stake his claim to the Rookie of the Year award that many pegged him to win before the season.

No word on how long he's slated to play after coming off the bench, but assuming he proves his ankle to be completely healthy to play big minutes, it shouldn't be very long until he returns to the starting lineup for good.
