Rajon Rondo suspended one game for making contact with official

By Royce Young | NBA writer

Boston Celtics guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended a game for making contact with an official during the game Saturday against the Hawks and then failing to cooperate with a league investigation, the NBA announced Monday.

NBA.com included video of the incident here.

Rondo will serve the suspension Monday night against the Knicks.

The Celtics are trying to get back on track after a disappointing start but have won two straight heading into their game with the Knicks. But without Rondo, they're going to have a hard time sustaining that momentum.

As to who starts in place of Rondo, Doc Rivers will likely go with Avery Bradley and Jason Terry as his backcourt.

Rondo has a bit of a history in making contact with officials, as he was suspended a game for bumping an official in the Celtics playoff series against the Hawks last May.

This is the second time this season Rondo has been suspended. The 26-year-old Rondo, who is averaging 13.2 points and 11.3 assists in 29 games this season, was forced to sit out two games for his role in a November brawl against the Nets.
