Eye on Basketball Podcast: Welcome back, Lakers

By Zach Harper | NBA writer

Matt Moore joins me after the weekend to discuss the return of the Los Angeles Lakers to the 2012-13 season. Mike D'Antoni said their season started Sunday and they responded with a 20-point victory, but did that really mean anything? Will their showdown with the Miami Heat on Thursday tell us if they're really ready to compete with the good teams in the league?

We also get into the Rudy Gay trade rumors and try to figure out which teams are in the discussion and which teams are out. Would the Washington Wizards really give up Bradley Beal for him? Would it be the same as their moves last season when they traded young talent for veterans? And can the Clippers add Gay to their roster with Memphis also getting better in the deal?

We discuss all of that plus Nuggets-Warriors, point guards, and preview Monday night's games.
