Lakers' Dwight Howard will not play Sunday against the Pistons

Los Angeles Lakers center Dwight Howard is still having enough pain and discomfort in his shoulder to keep him out of a second straight game. After injuring it again in a 92-86 loss to the Phoenix Suns Wednesday, Howard missed Friday night's win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. It looks like he'll miss Sunday's game as well.

Even against a good young frontcourt like what the Detroit Pistons throw out there with Greg Monroe and Andre Drummond, the Lakers should still be fine against their opponents today, in theory. But a lot of theoretical things have not gone the Lakers' way this season, as they try to climb back to at least being a .500 team.

This will be the Lakers' fifth game without Howard this season. They're 1-3 without him, with the first victory coming Friday night when they built a 29-point lead against the Wolves before closing out an 11-point win.

Now we'll have to wait and see if the Lakers will have Howard at their disposal Tuesday night when they face off against All-Star center Brook Lopez and the Brooklyn Nets.
